How to get to Prato by train
The railway lines of the province of Prato
The province of Prato is traversed by two main railway lines,
the Bologna-Firenze and the Firenze-Lucca.
Prato is therefore well connected with major Italian cities such as Rome, Milan,
Florence, Bologna, Venice and Naples.
The Bologna-Firenze line includes three railway stations in the
province: Prato Centrale, Vaiano and Vernio.
The Firenze-Lucca line (which then proceeds to Viareggio or Pisa) includes
three railway stations situated in the city of Prato: Prato Centrale, Prato Porta al Serraglio and Prato Borgonuovo.
The municipalities of Carmignano, Poggio a Caiano
and Montemurlo are connected by bus to the railway station of Prato
Centrale.

Vaiano
Is situated along the railway line Bologna-Firenze and it is the only station in the Municipality of Vaiano (marked on the map with the n. 4). It is connected by bus to the other municipalities in the Val Bisenzio (Vernio and Cantagallo), Prato and Castiglion de' Pepoli.
Vernio
Is situated along the railway line Bologna-Firenze and it is the only station in the Municipality of Vernio (marked on the map with the n. 5). It is connected by bus to the other municipalities in the Val Bisenzio (Vaiano and Cantagallo), Cantagallo), Prato and Castiglion de' Pepoli.

Memorario system,
the service put into operation by Trenitalia
along the line Firenze - Prato - Pistoia - Lucca - Viareggio,
which offers a major number of trains with major frequency, timetables are easier to remember,
integration between railway and
LAM (high frequency lines) *
Railway tickets
In Prato the railway tickets can also be bought at the travel agencies: the acquisition of the ticket at the travel agency has no additional coasts. There are other selling points (bar, bookstall, tobacconist's...) you can buy only one-way mileage tickets or season tickets. The distances are subdivided in groups of 10 km (1-10; 11-20; 21-30...), for a maximum of 500 km.
