How to get to Prato by plane

The province of Prato and the airports The G. Marconi airport of Bologna The A. Vespucci airport of Firenze The G. Galilei airport of Pisa

In the province of Prato there are no civil airports.

The closest airports to Prato are the Galileo Galilei of Pisa, which is the airport of the Tuscan region, and the Amerigo Vespucci of Firenze.

The municipalities of the Val di Bisenzio, and in particular Vernio, are also quiet close to the airport Guglielmo Marconi of Bologna.

The airport Galileo Galilei of Pisa

The international airport Galileo Galilei of Pisa is the most important airport in Tuscany (it is in fact the regional airport).

Near the airport of Pisa there is the railway station Pisa Aeroporto, which is connected directly to the railway station of Florence Firenze Santa Maria Novella. The terminal is even connected directly to the station of Pisa Centrale (along the railway line Pisa - Lucca - Pistoia - Firenze).

From there you have to take the motorway A11 in the direction of Florence. The exit "Prato Ovest" is about 65 km from Pisa, while the exit "Prato Est" is about 73 km away.

The airport Amerigo Vespucci of Florence

The airport Amerigo Vespucci of Florence is situated in the area known as Peretola and it is without a doubt the closest to the province of Prato.

At the present time the airport is not directly connected to the railway line, although it is possible to get by bus to the railway stations of Florence Firenze Santa Maria Novella and Firenze Rifredi.

It is extremely easy to get to Prato by car from Florence airport: the airport is in fact located at the A11 motorway exit of "Firenze Nord", which is only 5 km from the exit of "Prato Est" and 13 km from the exit of "Prato Ovest".

There is a bus service between the airport and Prato (Station of Prato Centrale) run by the Lazzi bus company and CAP.

The airport Guglielmo Marconi of Bologna

The airport is not directly connected to the railway line, but there is a direct bus service (aereobus) from the station of Bologna centrale.

In order to arrive at Prato from the airport you will need to take the ring road and enter the A1 motorway (exit of "Bologna Casalecchio") in the south-heading direction, and then get out at the exit of "Calenzano". This stretch of road is about 84 km. Otherwise, instead of getting out at Calenzano, one can take the motorway link road for the A11 at "Firenze Nord" (which is only 2 km from Calenzano) and get out at either of the exits for Prato, "Prato Est" or "Prato Ovest".
